Hurricane Katrina causes countless deaths

The hurricane Katrina was one of the deadliest, destructive and costliest tropical cyclones that impacted on United States.

A hurricane is a violent storm with a strong fast circular wind in the western Atlantic Ocean.

Katrina formed over the Bahamas, on August 23rd, 2005, crossed southern Florida as a moderate category 1 hurricane, causing some deaths and flooding there before strengthening rapidly on the Gulf of Mexico. The storm weakened before making its second land fall as a category 3 storm on the morning of Monday August 29, ion the southeast of Louisiana.

The number of fatalities is unknowed and probably will never be known with certainty. Obviously the longest number of deaths took place in the state of Louisiana. It is estimated that the damage caused by the Katrina is of 75 billions dollars, becoming the costliest hurricane in the United States history.

In conclusion, Katrina left thousands of people homeless and without jobs, vehicles, etc. And many cities suffered considerable damage.
